What Is That? - Color Accents

My Sunday breakfast/brunch has to consist of pancakes, bacon and eggs.  This is something that I have always loved as a kid and still love even as an adult.  My children on the other not so much.  They say they (the kids) are yuck-o.  Where did they come from to have that idea, this is true comfort food at it's simplest form.  Some foods that you grow up with just bring back such good memories and this is one of them.  Some other memory foods of mine are Beef-A-Roni casserole, lump-y-dick, homemade bread, chocolate cake or dry ice root-beer.

Just something soothing about a bubble bath.  That is unless someone is insisting on snapping photos of you so she can post them all over the web.
Thanks grand-ma, good thing I have bubbles to hide the important parts under.

More Catchlights and Simplicity

This isn't a resent photo, taken Dec. 09, it was just one of many that I am trying feverishly to get edited, burned and sent to my one and only daughter.  Sorry Wendy for being such a slacker (severely reprimanding myself for you).
Little Luke-y is the youngest of my grand children and I miss him terrible.  Washington is so far away from Idaho.  Why do children find the need to put distance between them and family?
The first year is such a busy one with learning what body part you have, eating solids, walking and talking.  Gosh I really miss out on a lot.
Well any way, here is just a sneak-peak of the session I had with my daughter and her family.
(((XOXOXOXO)))

Catchlight - Five
Christ S. is my FIVE year old grandson.  He let me play one afternoon.  Thanks Chris, Grandma really appreciates it.  I don't get to spend near enough time with my grand kids so I have to remember them via photos.
I have been working this week on catchlights, got to remember that if they can't see the light neither will I.

There is just something about a red ripe tomato.
f/10 @ 1/200 400ISO 85mm Macro
This is one reason that I miss summer, not being able to go out to my garden and pick tomatoes that have ripened on the vine.  I think the warm summer sun has to add something to the taste.  Store bought tomatoes just don't taste as good as home grown.

I love a good fried egg and tomato sandwich, a taste I acquired while growing up.  Toast the bread smear it with mayo and you have a meal that is timeless in my book.

Geometric - Catchlights
I have been trying to find new and interesting things to photograph.  Ways that will be challenging yet interesting.  I came across a post where someone had photographed ordinary soap bubbles.  You know the kind that you give you kids and send them outside to entertain themselves for a few minutes?

I thought I could do that.  Drug out my black background, tripod and  macro.  Whipped up some dish soap bubbles and wallah.  After several tries, I finally got a keeper.  To make this work out, I need to make myself a light box.

Could be better on the focus but have you ever tried to capture a bubble before it was gone?

Feminine Catchlights

Max is my cattle dog.  She is really camera shy, kind a like her owner.  I found her at the pound almost 5 years ago.  She didn't like anything that even resembled a male person.   It took some doing but now she doesn't leave my husband side.

Max is the perfect border collie,  smart, gentle, hard working and loyal.  I don't know what I would do without her she is such a big part of my family.

Working this week on catchlights.  This is my number 3 grandchild, Chris.  It's so very hard being small when you have big ideas..

I had forgotten all about my mini dispenser.  I came across it while do a bit of cleaning in my sewing room.  I even was fortunate to have some mimis to put in it.  I am so excited, doesn't take much now-days.

Kitchen Utensils
f/5.6 @ 1/200 85mm ISO 400

So what constitutes being a kitchen utensil?  Do you have to be silver, plastic or wooden?  Is your only purpose, to stir, sift or turn?

My kitchen is littered with aprons of every size and style.  Some are handmade, some are child size and some are well just a bit different.

This one is one of my favorites as it is a gift from one of my dearest friends how BTW lives in Scotland.
I don't have the ability to say these praises with the right emphasis in the right places.  It just brings a lot of joy knowing that she thought enough to find it for me.  Thanks Sandy Banner.  Love and Miss Ya.

Alone
I try to find a place that I can be alone when I am reading.  What am I reading today?  The Good Word, what else beings how it's Sunday.
50mm f/2.8 @ 1/500 800ISO forgot to lower it.
So many lessons to learn.  Hard to be everything, peacemaker, meek, merciful. . . . all the time.  It's a work in progress  and every day gives me a new chance to improve.    Thanks goodness.

Oddity
It odd!  Back in the day, I used to do a lot of baking, cakes, cookies, pies you name it.  So today, in celebration of the up--coming holiday, VALENTINES DAY.  I thought it would be nice of me to bake up some sugar cookies.
If you have ever had a Lofthouse Sugar Cookie, that was what I was after.  Soft, huge, cake-like and you can't eat just one.

50mm f/2.8 @ 1/60 ISO 800 not to bad at that high

Well as you can tell I have been sidetracked in my search for my favorite cookie recipe.
Perhaps it is time to call my sis as I know she will have the recipe.  Then I will be able to bake up several for me, hubby and the neighbors.

I hate it when I remember having something but then can't find it.

What is that?

Just my hand surfing the web.

Really it is my hubby's fake hand resting on some hunting equipment.  I found it today while I was trying to clean/ put away some of his stuff.  Why is it that most men think that putting things away consists of piles?

42/365

Not much for going and taking photos today.  Needed to get some much needed photo processing done.

These should have turned out so much better but due to limited space and a couple not wanting to keep their eyes open. . .  oh well. . .  chalk it up to experience.

The "P" Family
They were just such great sports.  I really loved working with them.

I feel bad that I wasn't able to get more photos on the this little girls camera for her.  I just kept forgetting.

We will have to do a "DO OVER" once spring come, if it ever does.

50mm f/2.2 @ 1/500 ISO

Can you say flue season? I thought that I was out-or-the-woods this years. NOT! I haven't had a cold or the flue since before my cancer surgery 2 years ago. Can't talk, taste, smell or keep my nose from running. This calls for some heavy duty therapy, lots and lots of R n R and Chocolate.

Would be nice to take some photos that weren't so depressing, just have to log this in my book of "What's Happening To Barb".

Domestic
One of the domestic chores that I really don't look forward to is . . . SHOPPING . . .  Don't like it, never have.  Today after I got all the groceries stuffed into the back of the car, I noticed these bird sitting on the carts.  I happened to remember to bring my camera along, I hurried and took a shot without anyone noticing me, they frown on photographers taking photos in shopping centers.  Not to bad for not focusing on anything..

What Is That?

Just horse'n around with lighting today.
Tobie is my 6 year old and doesn't like to have his picture taken.  He is a bit leery of the little black box that makes the clicking sound.  He probably asking himself, "What the Heck is that?"

Excuse the very tired look as I was up at 4am quilting. Had to force myself to get today photo done and posted.

I have seen some pretty good self portraits in my web travels, I wish that I were more photogenic, just not one of my talents.

He sows June fields with clover, and the world
Broadcasts with little common kindnesses.
The plain good souls He sends us, who fulfill
Life's homely duties in the daily path
With cheerful heart, ambitious of no more
Than to supply the wants of friend and kin,
Yet serve God's higher love to human hearts;
Giving a secret sweetness to the home,
The hidden fragrance of a kindly heart,
The simple beauty of a useful life,
That never dazzles, and that never tires. Samuel Longfellow,

Domestic
Calling on all my domestic skill to get this challenge accomplished.
My LDS womens group has decided to make 500 quilts, (crib, twin, full and queen sizes) before the end of April 2010.  We had gotten off to a pretty good start having almost 140 done so far.  Doing this is very gratifying not only for those that will benefit from a new warn quilt but it help down size my every growing fabric stash.

35/365 White

White
So why is this white?  Because this happens to be something that I really need to work on.  Whites of the eyes.  There are so many different ways that I have found to do this from using the selection tools to dodging and burning.  Seems everyone that uses PS has an opinion and a method.  I am just trying to find one that works for me.

Also got to figure out how to make myself look younger, energetic and tanned. Ü

Boy that is a slow shutter,  grateful that I have a remote and tripod.
Anyway I am not to thrilled to the fact that my photo assignment this week is "self portrait."  I can do the Feb. themes, not problems as well as the macros.  This taking a photo of myself for 7 days is kicking my butty.

I am not very photogenic,  never have liked being in front of the camera.  That is the reason that I am always behind the camera,  that is where I feel comfortable.

Perhaps that will all have changed by day 7, fingers crossed.

Appears that I could use a new hair style as well as nourishment.
