1.5.11 Treasures From My Past

While cleaning up the holiday after math and putting back photos on the wall I happened upon this old new clipping.  I’ve seen this photo of my Granddad before but never really new the story behind it other than he was Grassman of the year.  Today I took the time to read the write up.  Fond memories came rushing back as I recalled time spent on the summer cattle ranch. 

Named Bingham County's “Grassman of the Year” for 1963, L. D. Cox, farmer and stockman near Shelly, Idaho is here pictured up in the high basin country range herding his cattle.  His love for cattle accounts for his whole hearted attention to the development and improving of his cattle range as a means of making more grass available to his herd of over 1000.

It was one of my dreams, to be able to have my children and grandchildren experience the life on a working cattle ranch.  Thanks to a good husband, they are able to.

My time spent on the COX ranch with my granddad will always be my most treasured times.  I may not have the cattle numbers or the land mass as the COX Family ,  all I can do is start where I am and build my new memories of times spent on the PHILLIPS ranch.

It's Been a Crazy Summer

Wind, Sun, Rain, Snow, Cold and more even more wind is how this summer has come.  Then it was parties, funeral, reunions and grand children.
I think that I need a vacation from my summer vacation.
I have also been working on cleaning out storage rooms, down-sizing my crafts and trying to decide what I should keep and what I should get rid of.
I spent time with family, officially and un-officially.
Latest photo shoot was of my sisters family.  Casual and unrehearsed, just like I like it.

Thanks gals for letting me come and play.  I look forward to the 27th and our get together.

Mom Just Liked Me Best

 I don't have many old photos of my growing up years and the few I do have aren't that great.  I always wondered why my parents never took many of photos of me?  Thought ran across my mind years ago, perhaps I had been adopted.  Perhaps that's the answer.  Could I  have been the product of the Cinderella syndrome?  Seems I was always having to do the dirty jobs while my three sisters got off much, much easier. 

NO, I think that I was just much better at cleaning and organizing. Ü

I really love my sisters and miss them a lot.

"I am not done till my SKIN is wrinkled", that is what my Granddaughter would say.
She is somewhat older now , thirteen to be exact, and I wonder if she still judges her doneness by her wrinkles?
If I were to do that I would have been done a long time ago if you went by my wrinkled skin. Ü

{Day 13} Eyes

This Picture just cracks me up. Justin lives almost next door to me. He goes quite often snow machining with my husband and myself. On this particular ride his mother wasn't home to get him ready for the outing, leaving that up to the men of the house. When we were all getting ready I noticed that he had his swim goggles on instead of his snow goggles. He is such a funny little guy.

I would like to introduce Lucas Charles Rettke. He was born Dec 22nd 2008 in Seattle, Washington's when that area was having the worst snow storms and flooding ever in the states history. His parents will always remember when they almost couldn't get to the hospital.
