Out and About - Idaho Falls Photography

The weather lately is so unsettled, wind, rain, snow and a bit of sun.  How I wish that I could have just a few days of nothing but warm sunny weather with some puffy clouds through in for good photo effects.
So what do you do when you have the itch to go and photograph something, you resort to the neighbors farm and all the wild (not so wild) life.
I've loaded up my 1.4x tele-converter on my 300mm and I'm out the door in hope to capture the allusive peacocks.  So far I haven't been able to get a good sharp image of these guy, I am really hoping to capture them with tails spread wide and in full color.

This farm is an old working dairy farm.  They don't do much milking now days, just raising new replacement heffers for the larger dairies.  These gals weren't to excited to have me interrupting there morning meal.  So tough to get a good photo of black and white animals.

I finally find what I've come to photograph, the large male peacocks.  I find this one hanging out in an old tree which appears to be on it last leg.  I am never out of eye contact as I set up my tripod and adjust my camera settings.  Peacocks are one of the best watch DOGS that I know of.  They're always on the deference.  Come on Mr. Peacock you could work with me here a bit better.  Let's see some colors, some action, some tail feathers.

This just isn't going to be my day for the grand display of colors.  I did however manage to get some eye contact.  Perhaps if I bring this guy some birdie treats tomorrow perhaps he will be more will to work with me.

One of the unexpected pleasures you get while photographing at the farm is you never know who or what will show up and want to take along.

This is my new found camera friend, Leahla.  She was adorable and her eyes are to die for.
 I'll going back as soon as the weather warms up a bit to take more photos of the wildlife with the aid of my new camera side kick.

Best New Friends

Had the greatest time with the grand kids this past weekend. Gosh how I wish that they lived close by.

Why they were here the littlest tamed down the kittens and now that they are gone the kittens are so lost.

Simple Beliefs

Seeing Christmas through the eyes of a child is so heart warming to me. Their beliefs, simplest forms of faith, what can be more touching?
Children and Christmas just seem to go together perfectly.

After spending several hours watching the children and their Christmas presentation, I had the privilege of doing a quick Christmas shoot.  So ever grateful that I was called to participate.
The Simplest forms of faith are really the best.

Sneak Peak

I finally had time to get to a the last photo sessions that I did.  Gosh where did the time go.
Remember the Cutest Kid Contest that I held this past summer?  Well Gina and her family got the most votes by a land slide and won a FREE family session.

 If I remember right the middle little girl, the one on the box wasn't feeling up to snuff.  She was a good sport through it all thou.  Aren't these little girls just adorable?

 Ah such a cutie-pie.  I love little girls at this age.  Got to love the star crocks,  their mom is so talented with putting things together.

Got to love the leftovers of a wedding.  She's going to be a daddy's heart breaker when it's her time for the real thing.

102 - 04.12.10 - One

One is the loneliest . . . well if you are old enough, you'll remember the song.
One can be lonely that is if you are old like me but it not so much when you are actual one.  You get all the attention.  Everyone wants to come and hold you, squeeze you checks, those would be the ones on your face thank you very much. Ü  When you're one all you want to do is explore your new found freedoms.  Run, jump and climb if you know how.  Oh to be one again and have no worries.

 I don't know if that tongue sticking out is meant for me or not.  Going to have to think on that one for a bit.  I think that I need to invest in one or two of these rides.  He was having way to much fun while the women slaved over quilt tops.  I can just see it not, Dennis zipping down the driveway as he gets in his exercise for the day. Never, never I can go find my own ya know.

Kids Add So Much
Today was a great day.  I finally got to spend some time with my number 3 grandchild. 
Chris and his dad came up to spend  some boy time away from home.
Chris and I got to spend sometime shopping for snow machine clothes then it was off to the snow fields to practice our turns and speed.

Something about spending time with little people that helps you feel young again.

Tried to tone down the pink in his skin color but the photo was taken after riding in the cold with an open faced helmet.  I think  the pink comes from having cold skin, I know mine would look like that if it were subject to cold breezes.

Lion and Tigers and Bears Oh My

I had one of the flying monkeys come to visit for Halloween. He was dressed to the T"s. Vest, hat and even a tail. I miss Halloween and the part I really miss the most is getting to see all the kids dressed up. Bridger was the only one that came for treats. Was a good thing that I didn't make spudnuts as Dennis and I would have to finish them off. Don't know if I could eat that many.

My grands kids favorite place to eat, other than grandmas, is McDonalds.  Greasy burgers, tasteless fries, dirty tables, gosh they can get all that at home and more.

I think the really reason that they like going there is for the play toys.  They climb in that maze of germy hand printed pipes and tunnels to hide.  It takes forever to get them out of there.

It only takes approximately 10 day after our MickyD's visit and the lot of them have come down with the sniffles.  I wonder if MickyD's people ever climb in there themselves and do any cleaning?

Until our next visit, which will be when everyone has recuperated, I have got to stock up on Clorox wipes and Kleenexes.

{Day 45} Building

When my Grandkid come to visit their favorite thing to do is to get out the large container of Legos and start building. I have had these Legos ever since my children were small and have kept adding to the collection. I probably have over 3000 pieces, enought to keep several grandkids busy for hours industrious building. Come to think of it, maybe this is why my son is the engineer to much Lego time.

What I would give to have the vigor, oomph, energy, get-up-and-go, strength of youth. Adolescence, the time in life gets crazy, girls go crazy and mom and dad are crazy. Kam, my number one grandson, age nine going on fifteen. I love it when he brings his dad to visit.

Dennis and I stopped in Saturday morning to see how the kids were doing. Bridger, pictured here, has just started walking and by the looks of it wont be long before he is running. It is a shame that we don't get to see the grandchildren as much as we would like, is life is getting in the way? It was still nice to sit and visit even if it was a little early.

This Picture just cracks me up. Justin lives almost next door to me. He goes quite often snow machining with my husband and myself. On this particular ride his mother wasn't home to get him ready for the outing, leaving that up to the men of the house. When we were all getting ready I noticed that he had his swim goggles on instead of his snow goggles. He is such a funny little guy.
