I did manage to get up to the summer range to check on the grass situation, water and general area, Ah so good to take a road trip.
BUT most importantly, I managed to get a shoot at my all time favorite bird. It is the Mountain Blue Bird, Idaho's state bird. Boy these little guys are fast. I pull at my 300mm lens and start tracking. Gosh they are everywhere but not where I need them to be.
Hovering close to the ground, I was able to get in a get a pretty descent shoot. It's not frame-able by any means but it's a keeper. There was an over abundance of these blue winged beauties, just not where I needed them to be.

Love the bird. It looks great! I love photo challenges because it helps me to see different things in a new way. It is amazing what becomes photographable if you just look at it a little different.
Woah! That is one great actions shot! Love his blue coloring!!
What a great stop the action stop! I was surprised by how many of these were in Colorado (we don't have them here in Nebraska)...what great color!
This is a keeper for sure. We don't have these birds in Scotland - they are so beautiful. Taking photos of birds in flight is so hard for me - this is a great shot.
I love this shot - I really love how you feel the motion.
Great photo. Love that you can feel the movement.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. I am enjoying the alphabet challenge.
Wow! This is an amazing shot! So beautiful.
Wonderful shot!
You were in the right spot at the right time! I love the bluebird in flight! It's been a long time since I've seen a mountain bluebird, and I know they are here in NE Oregon.
I missed the deadline for the Sunday Snapshot, but I posted anyway! www.withinmyfocus.blogspot.com
Wow, what a bold blue. Great capture! Did you use a DSLR?
